When cleaning your car seat, you don’t simply just wash your car seats, of course, cleaning sounds easy but there are a few attentions needed when cleaning the car seats.

There are several things that we need to know to prevent bringing harm to our car seats when cleaning it.

1) Test the leather cleaner in a hidden area or on others to make sure that it suits your seats.

It is important to know if the cleaner you use suits your upholstery or not. In order to know if the cleaner suits your upholstery or not, test it on the hidden area of your car seats to know its effect before proceeding towards the whole seat. 

Who knows right if the cleaner will bring harm or proper cleaning effects to your car seat? Better safe than sorry. Besides, using it on hidden areas doesn’t really affect the looks of your car interior as the part is hidden (in case the cleaner brings harm to your car seat).

2) Vacuum your seats first to remove the dirt, dust and particles to prevent it from scratching and rubbing onto the seats as you further cleans it.

Removing first and particles is important. You really cannot miss this because small stones, even the smallest ones can bring scratches and harm to our car seats if we are not careful enough. 

Remove those dust, dirt and particles away using a vacuum to suck them off. *Remember to use the ones with soft brush or soft head attached to it*

3) Proceed slowly and carefully in smaller sections to reduce any chance of discoloration.

You’ll also need to start slowly and carefully in a smaller section. You really wouldn’t want any chance of discoloration. We only want to clean the dirt away, not takeCa the color away too.

It is recommended to be gentle and clean on smaller sections of the seats first. Perhaps the headrest first?

4) Use soft microfibre cloth so it doesn’t scratch the leather surface.

We already know that small debris can risk scratching your seat’s surface, but do you know that if your cloth is rough, you can risk scratching your car seats too?

Use soft microfibre cloth when cleaning your car seats. Softer, better.

5) Search for non-toxic and natural ingredients for commercial cleaners or conditioners.

Using non-toxic and natural ingredients commercial cleaners is better and can prevent risk of harming your leather car seats. Better safe than sorry, choose those that are made from natural ingredients instead.

6) Clean your car seat often and condition it once in a while.

Car seats are often exposed to dirt when we are outside or when we put things in our car. Moreover in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, we should clean our car more often to ensure our health and safety.
Clean our car seats often even if it seems clean because there are substances that can’t be seen by our naked eye.
